Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Squendo ("Squendo", "the app", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the app. Squendo is operated by Pilar Esteban (the "developer"). By creating an account and using Squendo you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the game and your account.
Account information
- Email address — used to sign you in with a one-time passcode (we do not use passwords).
- Name — shown to other players in multiplayer lobbies and scoreboards.
Profile & gameplay
- Profile photo — if you choose to add one, the image you pick is stored as your avatar.
- Gameplay & progress — your campaign progress and game state in online matches.
Technical information
- Basic device and diagnostic information necessary to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service (for example, connection and error data).
Usage & analytics
- How the app is used — the screens you view, games you start and finish, the difficulty and campaign level you played, whether you won, how long a game took, and similar in-app actions. This is linked to a pseudonymous account identifier (a random ID), together with your app version, operating system, and whether you are on a phone or a tablet.
- We do not send your email address, your name, or your profile photo to our analytics provider, and we do not collect your precise location or use any advertising identifier.
- You can turn this off at any time in the app — see section 6.
We do not use advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in (email passcode).
- To run single-player and online multiplayer games and show your name/colour to other players in a match.
- To save your campaign progress and profile across your devices.
- To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the app, and to comply with legal obligations.
- To understand how the game is actually played — so we can balance difficulty, fix steps that confuse people, and decide what to build next.
3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
Where the GDPR applies, we process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the game and your account), for our legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and functional, and understanding how the game is played so we can improve it), and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent or object to certain processing as described in "Your rights" below. In particular, you can object to analytics processing at any time by switching Usage analytics off in the app (Profile → Usage analytics).
4. How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run Squendo:
- Supabase — our backend provider, which hosts our authentication, database, and file storage (your account, profile, avatar, and game data).
- PostHog — our product-analytics provider (United States), which processes the pseudonymous usage events described in section 1 on our behalf. It does not receive your email address, name, or photo.
- Apple — the App Store, which delivers the app.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and related data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (see below) we delete the personal information associated with it, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations. Completed online games may be retained in de-identified form for the integrity of the service.
6. Your rights & choices
You can:
- Access and update your name and profile photo in the app at any time.
- Turn off usage analytics at any time in the app (Profile → Usage analytics). The game keeps working exactly the same.
- Delete your account directly in the app (Profile → Delete account), which removes your associated personal data, including your analytics record.
- Request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at pilar.esteban@gmail.com.
If you are in Australia, you have rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are in the EEA/UK, you have rights under the GDPR, including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children's privacy
Squendo is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls provided by our backend. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and to promptly address any issues.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence. In particular, the pseudonymous usage events described in section 1 are processed by PostHog in the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on our service providers' safeguards — including, for EEA/UK users, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — to protect your information consistent with this policy.
10. Service availability
Squendo's single-player game is designed to keep working on your device. Online features (multiplayer, account sync) are provided on an "as available" basis and may change or be discontinued; if we ever retire the online service we will provide reasonable notice.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Squendo after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
12. Contact us
